CRITmetic is a digital tool developed to empower young people by enhancing students' ability to critique and cope with dis/misinformation, messages they receive online, and algorithmic bias. We pair digital literacy curriculum with a built-in mental-health framework, designed for K-12 schools.
FAQ
Getting started
We're built for K-12 students, the educators teaching them, the administrators supporting them, and the families standing behind them. Each role gets a tailored experience — students see a learning environment, teachers get grading and rubric tools, administrators see roll-up reports, families get conversation starters and resources.
Schedule a 30-minute demo with our team via the For Administrators page. We'll walk through the curriculum, the platform, and pricing live — no slide deck. If it's a fit, we'll set up a sandbox environment for your team within a few business days.
Schedule a demoPricing scales with district size and starts in the per-student-per-year range typical for SaaS educational platforms. We don't publish list prices because every district has different needs. Set up a demo and we'll send a tailored quote.
Platform features
Each module contains structured slides, short video segments, curated readings, an in-line rubric, a capstone project, and a private wellness check-in — all in one structured flow. Teachers grade against the built-in rubric without leaving the lesson. Students complete the capstone and submit when ready.
14 modules ship in the pilot release, spanning Digital Literacy, Algorithmic Bias, AI Literacy, Mental Health, and Design Thinking. New modules ship on a bi-weekly cadence — the curriculum grows throughout the year.
See a lessonYes. Teachers can adjust pacing, swap optional assets, modify rubric weights, mark assignments as required or optional, and add their own readings. The core lesson sequence stays intact for standards alignment, but the surface around it is flexible.
Four artifact types: paper, video, slide deck, and campaign. Each has its own rubric tailored to the medium. Students choose which artifact fits the lesson they're working on.
Yes — class-wide and school-wide feeds for sharing student work, plus an anonymous Forum that's open to all students at participating schools (see the Forum page).
Privacy & student data
Yes. We've structured the platform around FERPA's definition of educational records — minimal collection, access controls scoped to school role, audit trails on administrative actions, and clear deletion procedures.
No, by design. Wellness check-ins are visible only at the aggregated class level — teachers see trends, never individual student responses. This was a deliberate architecture decision, not a policy bolted on at the end.
On US-based servers, encrypted at rest and in transit. We don't share data with third parties for marketing purposes. Anonymized, aggregated platform metrics may be used to improve the curriculum — never individual student records.
Yes. We provide a parental request flow that mirrors district practice — submit a request through your school's administrator, who can export and review their child's records within the platform.
Yes. Forum posts are not linked to student accounts in any way visible to teachers, administrators, or other students. The randomized handle and avatar exist only for that post. We retain audit-trail records for moderation purposes — but those records are accessible only to a small, vetted moderation team, never to school staff.
The Forum
Layered: every post is auto-screened for safety-flagged content before going live (profanity filter, self-harm signals, threats). Anyone can flag a post, which sends it to our moderation queue. A vetted moderation team can hide or remove anything that crosses our published community lines.
Yes — administrators can enable or disable the Forum at the district level. The Forum is opt-in for participating districts, not on by default.
Posts that hit our safety filter (self-harm signals, threats, urgent mental health flags) trigger an immediate review by our moderation team and a private, age-appropriate prompt to the student directing them to crisis resources. We follow established crisis-response protocols developed with school counselors.
Yes — within 24 hours of posting, a student can delete their own post via the email confirmation they received (if they provided one). After 24 hours, deletion requires emailing our team.
Standards & curriculum
ISTE Student Standards, Common Core State Standards (California & Michigan), California Next Generation Science Standards, California Content Standards for Computer Science and History–Social Science, and Michigan Academic Standards for Computer Science. Each lesson is explicitly tagged with the standards it advances.
See standards alignmentYes. We're prioritizing the most-requested state frameworks for the next academic year. If your state isn't currently mapped, let us know during your demo — adding state standards is part of the roadmap, not an afterthought.
Modules are designed for 4-6 class periods of work, with built-in checkpoints for natural lesson breaks. Teachers can compress or extend based on their schedule.
Technical & accessibility
Anything with a modern browser — Chromebooks, iPads, laptops, phones. We don't require dedicated apps. Mobile-first design means lessons read well on whatever device a student has.
Yes — Google Workspace for Education, Microsoft 365, Clever, and ClassLink are supported out of the box. Custom SAML SSO is available for larger districts.
We're aligned to WCAG 2.1 AA, with ongoing work toward AAA where feasible. Keyboard navigation, screen-reader support, captioned videos, dyslexia-friendly typography options, and color-contrast meet or exceed AA. Accessibility is on our active backlog every sprint.
Every shipped video has English closed captions. Spanish captions are rolling out across the existing video library this academic year, with new videos shipping with Spanish at parity.
